Business Lesson - Test and prepare thoroughly

Hinted by the disclaimer above, I launched my first-ever digital product last week.

The launch went well beyond expectations reaching around 22,000 people.

I think one of the main reasons for its success is that I tested and prepared my technical infrastructure well in advance, ensuring that once people start visiting my landing page and downloading the product there would be no issues that I have to deal with during the actual launch.

If there are no faults on the technical side, you can focus on the launch itself and on communicating with all the people that are willing to give your product a try.

Doing extra work in advance will save you headaches during the times it matters.

In my case, the main things to test:

The landing page

  • Open and click around on a few browsers

  • Open on both desktop and mobile

  • Test if adblockers are not breaking anything

The payment provider

  • Test orders

  • Can you complete the order and is the payment coming through

The product

  • Is the file getting sent immediately after an order

  • Is it the latest version of the file

So test and prepare thoroughly so you don't have to fight any fires when it matters the most.

Have a great one!

J.
