- Let it go
Let it go
Filterless creativity
Read time: 90 seconds
Hey there, J here.
This week I want to share a more philosophical concept that has been on my mind for a while.
Business Lesson - Your best work doesn't deserve your attention
You read that right.
Read it again.
Now let me explain.
When starting with a project, especially one that involves tackling something new I find myself binging on hours of content on that topic.
Gurus, opinions, how-to's, templates, frameworks, etc.
I guess that would be the "normal" way of approaching it and the method that most people use.
But by definition, your best work will not be that, since it's your first iteration.
Starting off with the training wheels seems to be smart and unavoidable, but at some point, we need to take them off and create freely from a unique perspective.
Our own unique perspective will be our only chance of creating something substantial and extraordinary.
I believe this is the evolution we should strive for with step 3 being the place where everything crescendos and the magic happens.
Step 1 - Have no idea what you're doing
Step 2 - Have some idea of what you're doing (the training wheels helping here)
Step 3 - Let yourself have no idea what you're doing and create freely
Letting go of control will be the unexplored area of your creativity where you can produce something truly unique.
Your best work doesn't deserve your attention, it deserves just being created without any filters.
So next time you struggle with putting something out there, remove preconceptions and just release it.
Watch it take on a life of its own.
That's the only chance it has to blossom into something memorable.
Have a great week!
J.
