Got crushed at the squat rack

It was not fun. But it will be.

Read time: 60 seconds

Hey there, J here.

Business Lesson (this week from the gym) - If you stop, you lose

I used to be hardcore into weightlifting for years.

Since then I've always been active, but in different sports:

Triathlons, marathons, trail running, calisthenics, etc.

I got back into the gym yesterday.

Decided to start with squats.

Haven't trained legs in a while.

Even though they've stayed active and even excelled at other disciplines.

I put the bar on my back and went on to do my usual warm-up.

Did a few reps, felt kind of OK.

Put a little extra weight on for my next set.

Not OK!

My quads cramped, I thought I pulled something.

Instant soreness.

Haven'f felt this for years.

My warm-up weight has turned into my working weight.

Sure, muscle memory should kick in and my progress will be faster than a beginner, but what a wake-up call.

It's simple.

If you stop, you lose.

And I can speak from other outside of gym painful experiences.

Started a podcast, stopped.

Started a YouTube channel, stopped.

Started a blog, stopped.

Halted all kinds of progress and didn't even give myself the chance to succeed.

Really hope that I learned my lesson this time.

Not stopping pretty much = winning.

Have a great one!

J.
