Business Lesson - Become as valuable as possible

I want to share my experience in leveraging my efforts on X to win clients for my business outside the platform.

A short story on the traditional ways of landing clients.

Impressing them with your attitude and experience.

For those that don't know, I've been running a Shopify agency for the last 6+ years.

I've worked with companies ranging from small startups to large corporations such as Amazon.

Funny enough, most of my inbounds don't come from X (yet) where I invest serious time growing it.

They come through LinkedIn.

Where I don't do anything besides optimize my profile based on my X profile.

However.

When they do come and we get on a call, it's my job to impress them as if I'm applying for a full-time job.

Once we go through the basics of what they need and what I know, this time around I've got some serious additional ammo and value to bring them.

In my mind, I'm a no-brainer to work with after I drop what my "side projects" are and what experience they bring.

And from the last 4 months on X, my ammo is seriously heavier.

Any other candidate for the project would most likely cover just the basic requirements - Shopify development.

Me:

- Guides (one especially on Shopify, aka authority)

- Growing an audience

- Digital products

- Copywriting

- Networking

- Newsletter

- Funnels

- Design

You may think these skills have nothing to do with Shopify development but remember...

All the work I do on a website is based on a requirement from a department within the business.

Imagine how much better my communication and understanding are of their requirements and goals given that I've done similar things to build my personal brand on X and my side projects around it.

The speed of execution and quality are greatly increased when the person creating the tasks and the person executing them understand each other well.

A bit roundabout way of saying, OUR WORK EVERYWHERE MATTERS.

The skills that we are learning matter.

The products we ship matter.

The connections we are making matter.

And all that makes you a no-brainer as a business partner.

It shows attitude.

It shows discipline.

It shows proactivity.

It shows a growth mindset individual.

And who doesn't want to work with that?
